IZKF rotation position for CSP Step 2
Applications for rotation positions for admission to the Clinician Scientist Programme (Step 2 module) are possible on an ongoing basis.
Eligible are
- Physicians with a completed doctorate from clinics, institutes and departments of the entire Faculty of Medicine
- who have already completed at least 2 years of their specialist training
- Physicians who can provide proof of at least a 2-year post-doc stay abroad in a laboratory, project specific preliminary work and who at least published 1 original paper as first author in a recognized journal OR
- who already have an approval for a scientifically reviewed third-party funded project or ELAN/IZKF project or third-party funded project or IZKF/ELAN-project running or approved in the application year and
- whose research project is supported by the head of the institution and
- which have not yet been included in the CSP (Advanced Module).
Candidates who have been in the habilitation process for more than two years or who have already undergone interim evaluation by the Fachmentorat (Mentoring Committee) cannot be accepted. The CSP Commission assesses the applications. Admission is by resolution of the IZKF board during its regular meetings or by circulation.

- Your Research Profile
- Confirmation of the head of institution (clinic, institute, department) for supporting the research project (with a promise of unrestricted support for participation in the CSP, 5 training days per year for participation in the CSP, enabling time off to participate in training modules such as retreats or network meetings, laboratory work places and necessary and agreed time off to carry out the planned research work). The letter of support should also contain a specification of the protected time (timeline and scope of rotation (see note below)):
- Approved third-party funding or ELAN application or project description of the planned research project in English (if no approval has been granted but a postdoctoral stay abroad has been completed).

Please send your application to izkf@fau.de. The review of the applications is carried out by the CSP Committee and the IZKF Management Board. It is based on the written application and an interview with the CSP Committee.
Note:
A protected research period of at least 6 months (Step 1) or 12 months (Step 2) is mandatory. In order to obtain the certificate for the Step 2 module, an exemption of a total of 18 months is mandatory, even if direct entry is made. However, the clinic/department must agree to release you for an additional 6 months if no release has been granted by the IZKF (laboratory rotation or Step 1) or other sponsors. The maximum leave of absence from the IZKF over the entire scientific career is limited to 18 months.
